High-complexity is the relevant category: it is what permits the laboratory-developed methods — the LC-MS/MS steroid panel, definitive toxicology, the custom molecular panel — that the rest of this site describes.
What CAP proficiency testing actually is
Worth separating from accreditation, because the two get conflated and they are different things.
Proficiency testing is externally supplied, blinded, and graded by a third party. CAP sends specimens whose values the laboratory does not know, the laboratory runs them as it would any patient sample, and CAP grades the answers.
That is the strongest single accuracy claim available to any laboratory, and it is a continuing obligation rather than a one-time inspection: validation establishes that a method works, proficiency testing establishes that it still works.

What we do not publish
State laboratory licences. Clinicore holds the licences required to operate and to accept specimens from the states it serves. Those are not listed here — the practical fact that matters to a practice is the service area below, not a licence register.
Proficiency testing scores. Participation and the system are published; individual scores and challenge results are not. Three reasons: scores go stale and need maintaining while a system does not; a single future result would contradict a published perfect record, and every laboratory eventually has one; and the data belongs to CAP.
Service area
Clinicore accepts specimens from all U.S. states except New York and California. Both require an out-of-state laboratory permit Clinicore does not hold.
Stated plainly here, and on For Providers, so a practice in either state learns it from a sentence rather than from a rejected specimen.
